:D What a wonderful little slice of your life…easy to imagine as you write it…… lovely photo and story (you have a big and good heart, don’t you :)

Lucy looks like quite a character. What an interesting rustic looking little setting. it’s these odd little moments in life that keep us moving along. :o )

Thanks Weasel! I don’t know about the "big, good heart" deal, but yes it was interesting to meet this character. If you see his books in a Library or something, check it out!
AJ, the Captain feels safer when I’m around (who wants to be all alone in a house except me?). Unfortunately, if I’m reading on the floor, he will streach out on the book like any typical cat. Then it’s another task to pull him off the book.
Animebabe, truth be told, the star of his book may just be Lucy. She was the reason I stoped to talk to him and purchased a book.
Chis loves his whisky and his pot which are two things I’m against especially if he’s alone with a dog. He gets himself involved with all kinds of people in bars because of his habits but yet ironically, that’s what makes his stories interesting; his very suffering that he inflicks upon himself and his escape from each situation. Caught up in all this is Lucy. When you’re travelling across America on a bicycle towing a cart with your belongings ….and a dog, sheltering anywhere you can, smoking marijuana does not make things any better.
I’d like to tell him this but he’s heard it before. He’s a free man (he wrote) and I figured I’d let him be.

Interesting guy to meet………lovely dog Lucy. I couldn’t live the way he does, but ……. he’s a free man as you (and he) wrote…….;-)
I love to hear, that captain Ron is enjoying your company!! I enjoyed the little story and music!! Don’t read all at one night ;-)

I was in Cedar Key on Labor Day??? I don’t do the down town as I am shooting birds…I drove through it looking for Pelicans on the docks…maybe I passed you??? Nice photo and a nice story. Wish my day was as happy as yours was. While I was "shooting" pink Roseate Spoonbills on 24, two flew in to land in the water by me…one flew under the electrical wires and one flew into them…fell like a rock 4 foot in front of me…lived two minutes after taking a hard hit of electricity! I wrapped it up in the cover I put over my camera to darken the LCD screen and took it to the Cedar Key Museum…they were happy to get such a fine speciman. It will be stuffed and used for educational purposes! I like your story better!!! angie, from FL, too

Irvo, thanks, I still have much more to read!
Hey Angie, you must have passed me if you were through there at about 2:00 to 3:00. I too was looking for birds at the docks but the waters were so brown and muddy, it wouldn’t have beeen a good shot anyway. Did you pass a guy who looked like Brad Pitt with a camera, talking to a guy with a dog? If you did, that wasn’t me.
I’m sure i’ll collide into you one of these days (maybe I already have!)
Poor spoonbill! I haven’t seen one up here yet but I’ve been static because of fuel prices lately and other bills (I just got billed $900 for air conditioning repairs at Gatorland Acura).

What a wonderful story to complement the photo! It’s very charming and touching, the bond he has with his dog. Definitely love the autograph bit!

Seems like he is an old school book peddler … where authors would go around little towns and villages to sell their books. I love it! Very personable.

    Beautiful story.

  9. METAL-ARMZ says:

Trust me, he tried to get bookstores to sell it (In his second book, he gives his horror stories trying to sell the first one.) They turned him down.
If he was a bit more internet savy he could sell this online but seeing he doesn’t quite fit that "character"……and he still hasn’t cashed my check yet. That could be a problem. He seems to have two spellings for his name. I might have to see him again.

Magnificent photo and story. The dog rally does steal the scene though.

Great picture and story. Last time I went to Cedar Key was in the 50s. I remember a little shack selling great smoked mullet and swamp cabbage salad. ‘spect the area’s changed a bit since then. ;-)

    Hey Jim!
